A cat tree is the single best investment you can make in an indoor cat’s daily life — but the wrong one becomes a very expensive coat rack. Here is how to choose a tree your cat will actually use, sized honestly for the room you have.
Start with your cat, not the catalog
Weigh and measure before you shop. A 7-lb tabby is happy on almost anything; a 15-lb Maine Coon needs perches at least 14 inches across and posts thick enough not to sway under a running leap. If the perch looks like a fit for your cat sitting perfectly still, it is too small — cats land at speed and sprawl when they sleep. Multi-cat homes need one more resting spot than they have cats, so nobody has to fight for altitude.
Height matters less than stability
